We'll be talking with and about some of Chicago's most beloved writers: Gwendolyn Brooks, Nelson Algren, Carl Sandburg, Stuart Dybek, Sandra Cisneros, Alex Kotlowitz, Shel Silverstein, Leon Forrest and others.
Director of the Studs Terkel Radio Archive Tony Macaluso will talk about Studs' passion for Chicago's vibrant literary scene and discuss Studs' just launched radio archive and how it is inspiring new artistic projects today, including the forthcoming podcast Bughouse Square with Eve Ewing, hosted by Chicago's great contemporary poet and scholar.

Tony Macaluso has served as Director of the WFMT Radio Network since 2011 where he oversees production and syndication of radio programs and podcasts about the arts to stations throughout the U.S. and internationally (programs such as Exploring Music, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Edinburgh Festival, Carnegie Hall, Shanghai Spring, Taloa, Breaking Glass, PoetryNow and others).
Since 2013 he has been directing creation of the Studs Terkel Radio Archive which launched in May 2018 and he is the executive producer of the forthcoming Terkel archive-inspired podcast Bughouse Square with Eve Ewing. Before joining WFMT he worked at the Grant Park Music Festival, Redmoon Theater, The Neo-Futurists and as an architectural guide on a Chicago riverboat. He is on the board of Opera-Matic and Media Burn. He studied theater history, journalism and Chinese and is the author of the book Sounds of Chicago's Lakefront. He is preparing to move to Leeds, England with his wife and son in July.
