This is my favorite book about grief. LaCour's writing has that magical ability to settle warm in your heart AND punch you in the gut, doubling over. Much like the balance of grief itself, how those memories have us stuck, happy and light to have them, and breaking and guilty that we'll never have more. There's mystery, and queer friendship+love-- but mostly there's grief, in all it's ugly, glorious, honesty.
