A Passion for Poetry: The Chicago Experience

Come hear six poets from diverse backgrounds read and perform their poetry. The poems are steeped in a world defined by gender, race and identity and who together weave a narrative that strikes a balance between a grimmer reality and an increasing sensitivity to love and equity.

Nicole Bond is the winner of the 2016 Gwendolyn Brooks Open Mic Awards.

Suman Chhabra is the author of Demons Off, a chapbook through Meekling Press.

Samina Hadi-Tabassum published a book of poems titled Muslim Melancholia  (2017) from Red Mountain Press.

Jane Hseu was a semi-finalist in the Guild Complex's 2017 Gwendolyn Brooks Open Mic Awards.

Vann Harris recently won the 2017 Gwendolyn Brooks Open Mic Award.

Rozina Kidari is a Creative Writing Fellow with the Luminarts Cultural Foundation.
